Governance
Fundamental business ethics help us govern the company and our relationships with stakeholders responsibly, through guidelines and collaboration. It is about integrity and transparency in relation to our sustainable development.
Code of Conduct and Responsible Supply Chain
Torghatten’s commitment to ethical, responsible, and sustainable business practices is embedded in our Code of Conduct and supporting policies.
Our Code of Conduct for board members and employees is designed in line with international regulations and standards, such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The guidelines are meant to guide us in making the right decisions and acting with integrity, in compliance with laws, regulations, and collective agreements.
Our Supplier Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for suppliers and business partners, and promotes sustainability, integrity, and human rights throughout the value chain. We expect our suppliers and partners to share our principles and act in line with our guidelines.
Transparency
We report on ESG topics through our parent company Nordic Ferry Infrastructure (NFI). Comprehensive ESG matters are disclosed in NFI’s annual report, while the handling of social risks related to human rights and working conditions is reported in a dedicated report prepared in accordance with the Norwegian Transparency Act (Åpenhetsloven).
The Transparency Act
Torghatten is subject to the Norwegian Transparency Act, which entered into force on July 1, 2022. The law aims to promote companies’ respect for fundamental human rights and decent working conditions, and requires larger enterprises to conduct and report on due diligence assessments throughout their value chains.
Sustainability and responsible business conduct are anchored in our overarching policies and governing documents. Our risk-based due diligence framework is based on the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct.
Torghatten reports annually on how risks are identified and managed. As part of the Nordic Ferry Infrastructure (NFI) Group, Torghatten’s disclosures are included in NFI Group’s Transparency Act report starting from the reporting year 2023.
Questions about our due diligence assessments can be directed to contact@nfigroup.no. We will respond within three weeks. More information about the Norwegian Transparency Act can be found here.
Whistleblowing
Whistleblowing on misconduct:
We want to make it easy to report misconduct. We encourage everyone to speak up about actual or potential violations of the law, or of our Code of Conduct for employees and suppliers.
Torghatten has established a digital whistleblowing channel operated by an independent third party. The channel is open to all, and it is possible to report anonymously.
Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is a growing concern in maritime operations, where digital systems play a critical role. Threats such as hacking of navigation or automation systems can pose serious safety risks, environmental damage, and disruptions affecting both passengers and cargo.
Cybersecurity is a central part of how we manage risk and govern our business. We follow internationally recognized standards – ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for IT and IEC 62443 for OT – to build a strong and comprehensive defense.
This enables us to manage an increasingly complex threat landscape and to ensure safe and resilient maritime operations.
